Jared Shlager | CEO

As young as age 13, Jared Shlager worked under the COO of Rolf Hagen Corporation, a multimillion-dollar empire in the pet industry. Shlager spent five summers completing projects, while learning various aspects within every department of the entire business.

In February of 2009, Jared Shlager became the CEO of Shlager Enterprises, Inc. He taught himself how to graphic design, for the purpose of designing high quality dog toys. Shlager sold his dog toy concepts to some of the top manufacturers in the pet industry, such as Ethical Pet Products, Beefeaters, Multipet International, and several successful others.

Before turning 20, Shlager began branching out into the E-commerce sector. When Shlager wasn’t studying, he was busy building multiple pet e-commerce sites from his dorm room at the University of Tampa. He was interviewed on a couple local news stations and had a cover story on the University website for his achievements. Shlager graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Entrepreneurship in 2014.

In November of 2015, the Governor of Florida invited Shlager to a Cabinet meeting, where he received the Governor's Young Entrepreneur Award, by Governor Rick Scott. Shlager was also awarded Pet Age's 2015 Top Forty under 40 in the pet industry, and was publicized on the cover of the December issue for 2015.

At age 23, Shlager built a dog treat company called Boston Treat House, for the sole purpose of building the future of animal health & wellness. In 2015, Shlager launched Pawmegranate® By Boston Treat House, which was a successful dog treat brand that offered a variety of healthy jerkies that were made from common proteins, and were infused with antioxidant-rich pomegranates.

While studying a variety of new health concerns in dogs, Shlager predicted that the future of animal health & wellness evolved around the use of sustainably-sourced exotic proteins. Shlager believed in this new solution so much that he quickly retired the Pawmegranate® brand in 2018, and built Mosaic® By Boston Treat House, where he began to pioneer the pet industry with exotic proteins like alligator, ostrich, octopus, emu, antelope, and several others exotic proteins.

Mosaic® dog treats are hypoallergenic and are free of any common proteins. It’s an exotic brand that focuses on the overall wellness for pets that suffer from food sensitivities. For the past several years, Shlager has made strong relationships with several of the largest farms in the world that sustainably raise and responsibly harvest various exotic animals. Mosaic® is the industry-leading brand for exotic proteins that are sourced from the USA.

In January of 2021, Shlager completed a Pet Food Formulation course at Kansas State University. Through this course, he learned about the functionality of various pet food machinery, pet treat extrusion, key ingredients for pet nutrition, reverse engineering pet food formulations, and how to make claims for supplements & labeling regulations. He also learned how to formulate baked treats and foods, premixes for supplemental formulas, canned/wet loafed based formulas, canned/wet chucks & gravy formulas, raw, freeze-dried food & treats, and kibble formulas with meat slurry.

Today, Shlager is very well-known for being a pet industry pioneer, as he continues to lead the fight against food allergies in animals.

Sierra Shlager | Mosaic® Ambassador

This pampered pup is Sierra Shlager. When she was 2.5 months old, she was diagnosed with Intestinal Bowel Disease, along with several other digestive issues and skin disorders from food allergies. Within the past few years, Sierra has been rushed to the emergency room multiple times, due to her health conditions. She is on a veterinarian prescription diet, but on her worst days, veterinarians cannot get her to eat any type of food, except for Mosaic® Ostrich Jerky.

Sierra is now 3 years old, and her health continues to improve. On a daily basis, she receives Mosaic® Ostrich Jerky, as these exotic treats have shown to improve her IBD symptoms, skin issues, as well as her overall health and well-being.
